Physiotherapy

Our Physiotherapy Services

The medicine of human movement.

Physiotherapy is the medical discipline of human movement and performance. All the systems of the body influence how you move and a physiotherapist ensures you recover, enhance and prevent injury to these systems. At Dorset Health & Wellbeing we treat across the spectrum of musculoskeletal issues, rheumatology and orthopaedics. We also specialise in the sporting pelvis and running but we are very proud to be a nationally recognised centre for paddling related injuries.

We are an innovative and modern practice offering opportunities in virtual clinics as well as face to face interventions with the use of technology to enhance your care and ensure you receive the best programs of rehabilitation. We also still offer all the traditional services from acupuncture to manual therapy and massage. We can also support your injury or prevent further problems through sports bracing, and strapping or through our protective rehab programs.

We also have strong working links to the local NHS and private practices as well as GP clinics. We can also refer direct for medical imaging at the local BMI hospitals.

The common type of problems we regularly see in the clinic are back pain, neck injury, whiplash, ankle sprains, knee pain, running injury, shoulder problems, tennis elbow, SIJ dysfunction, post pregnancy related injury, growth spurt problems, and many many more issues. We even help with breathing for conditions like asthma. If you are not sure your condition can be helped by physio we are happy to chat to you about your problem first.

Conditions We Treat

The types of conditions treated are any thing that affects the musculoskeletal system restricting mobility and function such as:

Virtual Clinic

There are some restrictions to physical assessment on line however we are very capable to triage and advise you of your pathways of care, we can formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan and often the rehabilitation is easier as the video gives you excellent feedback too help you learn to move better. It’s brilliant for those that want specialist care but can’t see the expert in their local area. We have been working with national level SUP, paddlers and other aquatic sports users, plus runners internationally.

Seeing an expert who understands your sport makes a huge difference to your recovery and performance. We offer life coaching virtually allowing you to be in the comforts of your own home and reducing stress attending external clinic settings. This service enables you to discuss your needs in terms of your stress management and mental wellbeing along with our life coach and NLP therapist who is very knowledgable and skilled in techniques to help you in your recovery and wellbeing. Within the virtual services we also offer holistic 1:1 classes in yoga, Pilates, Ballet barre and relaxation.

Off-Site Visits

We also provide off site visits to peoples homes for those with complex needs and rehabilitation that would be difficult to achieve in the clinic. This also extends to sports environment assessment and rehabilitation settings when needed and through our local links to hydrotherapy pools we can even extend this into the aquatic environments.
